The BAPS Swaminarayan Temple, nestled in the Aksharwadi locality of Bhavnagar, Gujarat, stands as a magnificent structure on Waghawadi Road. This temple is not only one of the notable BAPS temples in Gujarat but also a must-visit destination in Bhavnagar.

 

Established in 2006, Aksharwadi Temple has become a pivotal religious site over the years. It serves as a center for enlightenment, education, and entertainment. Built by the BAPS Shri Seva Sansthan, the temple is devoted to Lord Swaminarayan, aiming to spread his teachings and discourses.

 

The temple's architecture is a beautiful representation of traditional Hindu design, featuring two stories and three domes crafted according to the Shilpa Shastras. The temple grounds are adorned with intricate terracotta works, wall paintings, carvings, and various deities' idols, including a cradle of Lord Krishna. A lush garden surrounds the temple, adding to its serene ambiance. Central to the temple are the idols of Gopinathji Maharaj and Harikrishna Maharaj, with Dharmdev, Bhakti Mata, and Vasudevanarayan on the western side, and Revti-Baldevji, Sri Krishna, and Suryanarayan on the eastern side. Additionally, the prasadi temple, which serves as a museum, showcases various items associated with Swaminarayan Bhagwan. The temple also hosts educational exhibits and audio-visual programs that depict the life and teachings of Lord Swaminarayan.
